Anti-Pressure Ulcer Mask

The first iteration of the Clinical Innovation Catalyst Program resulted in an improved pediatric respiratory mask designed to prevent pressure ulcers. Pressure ulcers occur in 7-17% of pediatric patients in acute care settings and cost the healthcare system roughly $3 billion dollars every year. The Catalyst program brought clinicians and corporate partners together to develop a new mask design and set national standards for respiratory masks. This work was made possible through a grant from the New England Pediatric Device Consortium. The mask design is currently at the FDA for 510K regulatory approval.
